BLACKDEATH 23 My Journal as an Army Helicopter Pilot in Iraq eBook Robert Mills Carrie Smothers Kerri Ponder

While grateful for the authors service, I expected more narration on his missions and less on his day to day functions of deployment. He came closer to expectations on narration of second deployment. One thing his writing did illustrate is the sacrifices endured by his family and himself consisting on time never recovered. Again thanks for you and your family’s service.

BLACKDEATH 23 My Journal as an Army Helicopter Pilot in Iraq eBook Robert Mills Carrie Smothers Kerri Ponder Reviews

Great book really enjoyed it.
This book is pages and pages of the author telling us he did his laundry and how much coffee he drank. No mention of the flying or anything of interest that happened
The journal of service in Iraq was outstanding. Much detail and care was given to events both in action on the Iraq front and also the home front. It was an eye opener for existence of our troops overseas especially to someone of civilian background. I was truly impressed by Rob's ability to focus and stay positive under some of the conditions. Descriptions of combat adventures made for an emotional read. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.
Robert Mills did an excellent job of sharing his journey as a Kiowa pilot through two deployments in Iraq. From the every day mundane missions to the ones that have you sitting on the edge of your seat. It is easy to lose yourself in this book feeling as though you are right there with them. It is a clear insight as to what our soldiers did and do experience in today's modern warfare. It will bring a range of emotions from frustration, to tears, to laughter, to cheering. Last but not least it will leave you grateful and proud that you live in a country defended by men and women of this caliber.
This book accurately recounts what it was like to be a Kiowa pilot in Iraq. Having served as a Kiowa pilot at the same time as the author, just in a different part of Iraq, I found the book intriguing. It brought me back to a time when death was closest; yet, I never felt more alive. The pride I felt of supporting our ground brethren came back. Thanks Robert for reminding me of what it it meant to serve.
I started to read this book with great expectation. However, it turned out to be a very boring dairy of the author.. The typical action you expect to read in a book like this just never happens. It is a family dairy with flying as a add-on.
Great book written by a great man that I had the pleasure of serving with.
